Kivu was commissioned by the British Council to design and lead a rapid Political Economy Analysis (PEA) of the then new presidency of Emerson Mnangagwa. The objectives were to (i) understand the nature of political change that had taken place in Zimbabwe and assess the implications for economic policy reform and (ii) to assess how public perceptions of the Mnangagwa presidency were evolving after its first hundred days in office, with a particular focus on its impact on livelihoods of ordinary Zimbabwean citizens. Kivu worked with a team of local researchers to conduct the PEA and a series of country-wide focus group discussions.
